This wasn't a big deal, we were taken off 15 minutes later but we then had to proceed down 12 flights of stairs to fill out paperwork, describing the incident and indicating we didn't require medical attention.
None of the employees there were allowed to make the decision to let us off. However, they showed up after 30 minutes and opened the doors but couldn't let us off even though we were only 2.5 feet lower than they floor above, they indicated it was a 'safety risk'. I want to emphasize that ALL the responding employees were VERY nice, polite and tried to be as helpful as possible. We immediately contacted the emergency line and they responded, we understand stopped elevators are safe, nobody is going to drop to their doom. Nothing dramatic, it stopped between 11 and 12th floors for about 45 minutes. Our family weekend stay at the spa hotel was fine until we got stuck in the elevator.
